Braun Black Mesh Mens Watch BN0032BKBKMHG review

While most people nowadays prefer using their phones to check the time, there’s something about physical timepieces that intrigues mankind. Braun’s modern line of watches is based off of classic designs by the genius Dieter Rams, with slight modifications approved by Dietrich Lubs. Our pals at the designer watch website ticwatches.co.uk sent us the BN0032BKBKMHG to check out. Is the design truly as amazing as we expect?

    Features

    • Analogue display
    • Date feature
    • Quartz movement
    • 40mm diameter dial
    • 8mm thick case
    • Water Resistant to 5 ATM
    • Braun Watch Packaging
    • 2 year manufacturer’s warranty

    Our Impressions

The Braun watch comes wrapped around a chunk of foam in a clear plastic box in a black polycarbonate box in a paper sleeve, all about the same size.

The Braun is one of the most cleanly designed watches we’ve seen in a while. First of all, the perfectly circular watch is very thin and is featureless on the sides except for a tiny two stage knob for adjusting the time and date. The watch is constructed of stainless steel with a smooth black finish.

In order to adjust the date, you pull the knob out one level and turn as is needed. To adjust the date, you pull it out all the way to the second stop and turn, making sure you’re on the correct 12 hour cycle for the date feature to change correctly.

The white hour and minute hands are joined by an even skinnier yellow second hand. Thin white lines on the slanted border of the watch indicate minutes while the slightly fatter lines indicate hours. The numbers are imprinted in a thin but easy to read font around the face.

Directly above the 6 is a cutout that displays the date on a white square. A tiny red chevron accent on its top edge is reminiscent of the iPhone’s calendar app icon.

Printed below the 12 is a Braun logo.

The thin strap is made of a metal mesh material that’s pretty flexible and durable at the same time. It’s also pretty comfortable on the wrist and easily adjustable via the two stage latch system.

The watch is waterproof so you won’t need to worry about taking the watch off every time you wash your hands.

    Overall

We think the Braun watch is one of the coolest watches we’ve had the chance to wear. Sure, it doesn’t have any fancy solar or atomic features. Heck it doesn’t even have a LCD display or basic stopwatch functions. Despite all this, the simplicity of the Braun watch is unbeatable. Everywhere I’ve gone, people have commented on and asked about the watch. If clean design is what you’re looking for, you can’t go wrong with the Braun watches at ticwatches.co.uk.
