Klonoa - Wii Review

Klonoa Wii Pack_Final_sm

Klonoa, a Wii-make of an old Playstation favorite. Updated graphics, voice work, and cut scenes it's a nice adaptation of the original, but does it still hold that same charm?

Klonoa is a kid's game at heart. It doesn't take a whole lot of skill to whip this game outta the park if you're a veteran of sidescrollers - only took me 3 - 4 hours. I'm going to say straight out that I never played the original... or maybe I did and I just don't remember it clearly enough. But back on topic, the game is quite simple. There's not much they could screw up with this game since it doesn't include any waggle gimmicks. It's back to classic side scrolling goodness, so it uses the horizontal Wii-mote control scheme. You run, jump, and can hover around for about a second. Klonoa's only power rests within the ring he holds. It allows him to grab enemies, and you use those same enemies to throw them against obstacles, like boxes or other, tougher, enemies. You don't gain any other skills through out the game, so you're pretty much given the full deck right off the bat. With that being said, you get more than enough time to get used to maneuvering Klonoa in the air, while using an enemy to bounce him up to an even higher state for reaching hard to reach crystals.

Klonoa

The level design is pretty sweet, and I love how the camera is fluid when you're running around twists and turns in each stage. There are 14 unique levels in the game, which seems pretty low to me, especially in a world where we're used to playing 8 - 10 hour long campaigns. But once again let me remind you, this is a game meant for kids. The stages themselves take on different themes as you travel through out Klonoa's dream world... or so I think it's his dream world. To be honest, I didn't pay much attention to the story because I wanted to run right through the game, but I'll just fill you in with what i know: There's this bad dude named Ghadius who wants to cover the world in nightmares to gain revenge on people who accept dreams and reject nightmares. I think he controls people or something along the way, and most of those people become your allies later on in the game. The story is pretty shallow, but once again, it's enough for kids about 4 - 8 years old.

I know this a short review, but this is a short game. There's not much really to say about it besides that it excels in everything it was meant to do. It's a classic sidescroller with enemies whom aren't too tough, but can be annoying at certain points. The final stages can be a bit challenging, mostly because they require a bit of puzzle solving, and by that time it seems like they were just added in there to annoy you. The last bits of the end can be frustrating because they demand precision, quick thinking and jumping to make your way to the finale. If you're not that good with sidescrollers then I suggest racking up as many crystals as you can to build up an army of extra lives as back up.

I recommend this title for a rent because it's really not worth a buy, unless you have children who are looking to get themselves into gaming. A brand new $30 - $50 price tag doesn't give you much bang for your buck because the game only lasts a couple of hours and can be stormed right through in one afternoon. It's cutesy but fun, however the beginning is a little simple for many players, so that may turn off some. Give it a go and give it some time to pick up in pace and difficulty and I'm sure you'll have a fun experience.

halo 2: reason For 100 friend limit On xbox Live

I only have about 20 or so friends on Xbox live, so I’ve never run into this problem myself, but I do know a few people who wish the 100 friend limit went bye bye. Microsoft never came out and told us the reason why there was a limit when the service moved over to the 360. It seems like we may have gotten our answer. G4, of all people, put up an exclusive story on their site today about receiving a tip from someone working within the MS walls. Apparently, the sole reason for there being a 100 friend cap is none other than Halo 2.

Seems like a patch can’t fix it, because obviously, if that was all it would’ve been fixed already. So for the moment there’s no real solution except hope people stop playing Halo 2, but that doesn’t seem likely as it’s the top game played on Live from the original Xbox every single week. MS hopes that Halo: ODST will convert those last remaining Halo 2 players over to 3 and ODST when it’s released, but don’t count on it. If ODST plays just like Halo 3, in terms of multiplayer, then don’t get your hopes up. Some aren’t fond of the changes from 2 to 3.

modding your consoles - it's illegal, just in Case you Didn't know

Ever mod your gaming console? Wanted to play imports, backups, or give it custom firmware? In this day in age if you own a PSP it's hard to think of not utilizing all the tools available for your system. But watch out, and hacker beware! Even if you're not making money off of your modding projects, and it's just for personal use you may be surprised to hear that you are already on the wrong side of the law.

I'm sure you've gone on Craigslist before and have seen ads here and there about people willing to mod your 360 or PSP, whether it be for custom firmware or for it to play backups via some hardware mod. Well, those guys are the ones who are 99% more likely to get a 'suit thrown at them. And there's a California college student by the name of Matthew Lloyd Crippen who now is having a few regrets over all those consoles he charged for to mod. You see, Matt is a liberal arts major at Cal state Fullerton, near Anaheim, Cali and I'm sure as a normal college student, he never thought he'd find himself being frisked away by the Immigration and Customs division of Homeland Security last Monday. And now he faces up to 10 years in prison for the two charges pitted against him. Talk about harsh, man.

It's sad to think that a fairly innocent man will be going to prison, that scary place where they put murderers and rapists away, all because he wanted to make a few bucks off of friends who needed their systems worked on. The ESA isn't kidding around about this sorta stuff either. They want everyone to know that if you mod your consoles for any reason whatsoever, no matter what the intent, you are breaking the law and are the worst kind of individual - so bad, you need to be locked up for it. They are quoted as saying this on the siubject from the ArsTechnica article:

The technological measures that video game companies use to control or manage access to their works and to prevent unauthorized copying are essential to ensuring the viability of a vibrant video game marketplace. These technological measures protect the intellectual property rights on which video game companies depend to create and publish new games. Circumventing these protections is never 'harmless fun,' as it erodes the foundation on which video game industry depends for its success.

Top 10 Reasons You Must Have Prototype, now!

Prototype is a huge hit! And its funny, because a very similar game came out at about the same time, inFAMOUS. Both these games recieved a rating of 9 or more on varius gaming review websites and shows.

As we see in this stunning gameplay footage, it is a well polished and well optimized game for consoles. The physics system is not as good as the highly acclaimed Crysis or GTA 4, but, the way the cars, tanks, and debris goes flying around and huge explosions and shockwaves implode as Mr. Mercer hits the ground is so friggin cool!

The funny thing is that Prototype was from the creators, Radical Entertainment of a lame game called "Scarface: the world is yours" and the somwhat good game "Simpsons, hit and run". No body was prepared for a huge hit like this.

What do you think of prototype? Add any other "10 things" in the comments.

PS3 has sold nearly 24 Million as of august 4 2009

According to some recently released statistics from Sony, theworldwide install base for the PlayStation 3is now 23.8 million strong. From a factwe learned earlier in June, we can extrapolate from these recent numbers that almosteight millionpeople are currently beingQuinciedin PlayStation Home. Furthermore, assuming everyone owns one controller, there's more than144 million axesof motion control floating around out there. (Axis'? Axises?)

From these numbers, we can also determine that the PS3 is currently lagging behind its Console War adversaries -- the Wii issporting nearly the same numberof users in the U.S. alone, and theXbox 360 hit 28 million usersearlier this year. Hey, that just makes it moreunderground, you know? It's edgy and exclusive, like that hip bar that doesn't let you or your friends in, because it's too full of well-dressed, attractive people.

Rock Band: Beatles | E3 2009 Trailer | What do you think?

Although there is no need for me to go in depth about who the beatles are and the fact that they frikin rocked the world from the 60's and beyond! I have no doubt, in every world-wide house hold, somebody (if not the whole family) knows who the beatles are and how much they have changed the face of music forever.

The point is that almost 50 years later they have one of the most succesfull game chains wanting to make a game about them. 50 YEARS! So that means that we have to do some simple math:

As of July 30th 2009, this trailer has recieved 600,000 video views on youtube. Now, who is watching videogame trailers on youtube... 15 year old kids thats who!

Now alot of you are thinking "well that doesent mean 60% of the views are from kids". Well think about it. Most people who are old enough to remember the Beatles are not very interested in spending $300 on a gaming system, then another $200 on Rockband, then, wait for this game to come out. The majority of people that are going to get this game is 10 - 25 Year-olds.

Judging by the fact that this trailer is mostly game footage, there is no more left to say then you must buy this game when it comes out.

now..

Leave your opinion in the comments and maybe give us some more insight.
