The top 15 fastest U.S. states in terms of Broadband Speed

50 states. They all have broadband. Which is the fastest when you pit them together? Apparently, Delaware is. Go figure. At a whopping 9 mbps, Delaware took the top spot with other notables such as New York at 5th place, California at 11th, and Alaska at 50, respectively.

I live in Southern California and I'm in the ballpark of somewhere between 8 mbps and 11mbps, depending on the day. Also, from the article, I love what the LA times wrote about Cali:

California, perhaps the nation's most high-tech-friendly state, ranked only 11th among the 50 states, well behind the national leaders. Still, the state's 6.6 Mbps average put it ahead of where it was two years ago, when it ranked 22nd among states, with barely more than 3 Mbps.

Wallowing in shame they brush off that this time two years ago they were at Alaska speeds, and flaunt their 5 mbps speed.

Slightly different beatboxing Neurosonics Audiomedical Labs Inc.

This one's for my dad.

Neurosonics Audiomedical Laboratory footage.

Kingdom of the unreal but also a higher state of being, ultimately free of the limitations of the material world through the agency of science, technology, and imagination.

the Best Twitter, Facebook app you must have | Skimmer

Twitter and facebook come hand in hand, and even though it is easy to integrate twitter and facebook together [read more] sometimes you just want to update both at the same time, without opening up your browser and looking at that ugly facebook website

its skimmer

Inspired by elegent experience with social media and brought to reality by We are Fallon, Skimmer creates a truely indulging, rich experience to your Tweets and, er "Facebooks". The interesting thing is it runs off the Adobe AIR framework and is an ultra versitile twitter client, which can run on any machine, Mac or PC :)

The cool part is (Not like there isn't one :) is that the program looks so god damn cool, you'll find yourself tweeting and facebooking at once, in 10 seconds.

They even have a widget builder built in to share all your stuff, right on your site, or blog.

Mininova needs to Pay up! All illegal Links need to cough up Cash

The Pirate Bay was just the beginning. No one is outside Batman's...err, I mean the Movie and Music industry's jurisdiction. Mininova, a torrent search engine in laymen's terms, was given an ultimatum: Remove all links to illegal torrents within 3 months, or pay up 1,000 Euro's for each one.

BREIN, an organization that acts similarly like the MPAA and RIAA do, sued Mininova earlier this year and the ruling has come down. Mininova may appeal the ruling.

Gmail lets you Now pick your Contacts

It's always been an annoyance - not being able to select which of your contacts will get your email - and I find it funny that Google is marketing this change as if it's a feature, rather than a way overdue update.

When composing messages, you probably rely pretty heavily on auto-complete to add recipients. Auto-complete is convenient and fast, and usually does the trick. But sometimes seeing your list of contacts can help you remember all the people you want to include on your email. So, we've added a contact chooser to Gmail.

Sure, autocomplete is great, but what if I haven't given someone a custom name, and I totally forgot their email address?

Internet Addiction rehab is Real and Expensive

Can't step away from your computer for a second without feeling disconnected? You aren't the only one. A rehab center specializing in a program to get you back on track with your offline "A game" is opening up in Fall City, Washington. For those monitoring the activity on the net this only seems natural as certain people are unable to un-glue their eyes off of youtube or their friends latest twitter updates.

However, there is quite a bit of opposition towards this whole operation. Opposition that calls internet addiction a bunch of bull - a made up addiction. When compared to cocaine and heroin addicts, you're not looking at someone who is addicted to myspace or mmorpg's. The use of the internet is not harmful, and neither is playing a game, but using drugs to alter your mind and thoughts uncontrollably and harm your natural balance of chemicals. The internet doesn't do that at all. So it's all within your control, every second of it. In other words, it wouldn't be an addiction, but a condition. There seems to be a difference. You don't see fat rehab centers. And why? Because the food, although harmful, is always within the control of the person eating. You can see the effects gradually. Internet use would be the same way, however not as easily.

I don't see what the big deal is really. Why does it HAVE to be considered something addictive? Does it really matter? It truly isn't. If I go online and don't get addicted then the problem isn't the internet, but the person - but then again you could say the same with alcoholics vs people who don't drink much. Eh, I'll leave this debate to the "experts."

Twitter Down as of now 4:30pm August 24

I was just about to log on to twitter and check out my tweets, and I saw this :O

This is a disaster. Twitter has been going down hard lately and nobody knows why! It seems since they are a young web app, there security administration is a little new at this, and their no-where near the server capacity of youtube, or google.

Check back in for updates, And leave them in the comments!
