Chrono Trigger is time traveling its way to iOS next month
Years ago, before games like Mass Effect and Skyrim basked in the spotlight, before games were rated on their polygons, voice-acting, and varying degrees of gameplay, the role-playing game genre was dominated by a company known as Square Enix. And while Eastern RPG’s have taken a back seat to our more innovative, Western developed titles (such as those mentioned at the top), you’d be hard pressed to find anyone who’s willing to say anything negative about Chrono Trigger — which just happens to be making its way onto iOS next week.
Destructoid is reporting that the game that broke the mold of Final Fantasy, and took it another step further with its real-time ATB system, will be set for release on Apple’s App store sometime in December. All we know so far is that the game has been only confirmed for iPhone and iPod touch (playable also on iPad), and will go untouched from the original, with the exception of new touch-controls, which is a given.
Right in time for that special time of the year where kids young and old get to bask in the glory of so many new release games, Chrono Trigger could be the perfect gift for anyone who wants to relive the time-traveling experience all over again, or venture through it for the first time — no console necessary.
