ClamCase - Turn your iPad into a Laptop

This is one of the most interesting accessories out there, and it answers a few questions - but first, what is it? Its basically a hard case designed for iPads that has a built in Bluetooth keyboard and has the physical attributes of a Macbook. You basically fit the iPad into the top half, turning the iPad into a 9.7 inch multitouch screen, and then magically you have a laptop. No wait, it couldn’t be…

You wanted an Apple netbook, here you go

So, Apple fans wanted a sub $1000 netbook, and little did they know, it’s been right in front of them for a month. Sure it has no USB ports, but it has Multitouch, WiFi, 3G, an 10 hours of battery store and a selection of tens of thousands of apps. Sounds like a pretty sweet deal, starting at 500 bones, eh? This little gem is being created by ClamCase, and it features some nice touches.

The case will be able to swivel the iPad 360 degrees so it can fold over itself, and hide the keyboard thus becoming a tablet once more, but you can also use it like a laptop, or netbook using a Bluetooth connected keyboard (the case will need a battery, but leaves the dock connector free :D ) and it features a manual power switch along with LED indicators and a power-saving feature.

So what does this mean for the iPad? Well, overnight, it has become the Apple netbook we have always been dreaming of, and more. I mean, how many laptops have Multitouch? Knowing that you have internet anywhere via 3G and up to 10 hours of battery make this one of the better netbooks, never mind a tablet. The only thing I can think of is how they could integrate some USB functionality via Bluetooth or the dock connector.

I dont know how well the product is going to function, as well as the build quality, but time will tell. It is planned to launch sometime this fall, so probably around September/October. I am excited, how about you?
