Crytek says Xbox's 360 successor will be shown at E3 2012, will demo Timesplitters 4
Crytek’s gone from a PC-only developer to one who’s now breaking news on next-gen home consoles. How quickly the tides turn once it’s all about money. So is there any truth to this rumor goin’ round? Judge for yourself, but that snazzy Wii-U wannabe design looks pretty original, right?!
Just shortly a week after E3 and the Kinect heavy Microsoft press conference, a “high-ranking” source at Crytek has let slip to Videogamer.com that the games studio is working on the new Timesplitters 4 game, which is being developed through CryEngine 3, but not only that — they’re also pretty deep in DirectX 11 for the development of next-generation games for the firm.
It doesn’t end there though! The interview obviously kept going and this source went to say that they expect Microsoft to unveil their Xbox successor within the next 12 months, making E3 2012 the perfect candidiate and opportunite time. He suggests that the Kinect-maker is eyeing a headstart on Sony’s next-gen platform, however what’s interesting to note is that they’re also involved in investing resources to Sony for that upcoming system — hey, competition is good, right?
Just to clarify something earlier mentioned, Crytek owns the property to Timesplitters since they acquired Free Radical back in 2009.
