Dreams of a Pokemon MMO Might Come True

My dreams of a Pokemon MMO might actually come true- While WOW and other MMORPGs have been a huge success, there has never been one that all people alike could connect to. When Pokemon was popular in the 90s, everyone played it. The card game, tv show, and especially the gameboy game. It didn’t matter if you were a girl or guy, it was fun either way, and now it seems that Shigeru Miyamoto could take that step into the future.

Shigeru Miyamoto, manager of Nintendo’s Entertainment Analysis and Development branch, announced that there would be a new character coming out sometime next year. This prompted user JDarkley, at G4tv.com, to pitch his idea to Mr. Miyamoto.

JDarkley:

I’d like a new character yes, but a fresh take on the old franchises would be a good idea. Co-op in Super Mario Bros. for Wii was a good start, but something I would like to see would be a (I’m not joking here) Pokemon MMO. Think about it, run around fighting other Pokemon in a huge world map and and fighting/teaming up with fellow trainers (players). C’mon, that sounds just plain fun!

The idea has been spreading around the internet for years but has never happened. Some fans claim that it could even wipe out WOW, and drag in new players at a massive rate, because who wouldn’t want to run around a Pokemon world capturing Pokemon, training, being good, evil, or whatever? This could put Nintento out in the lead in one of the fastest growing markets in the world, MMORPS’s. Will it happen soon? We may never now. For now all we can do is wait and hope Miyamoto picks up on what fans really want…
