Dude puts 360 and PS3 into one case, saves space, creates Console-ception - (Pictures)
Every once in a while peope wonder if the future of gaming is a single piece of hardware running separate instances of a gaming OS (if you will). Well, Redditor “timefiend” decided he wasn’t going to wait for this to happen on its own and went ahead and did it himself. The result? A pretty nifty, convenient console that anyone would be happy to own.
Timeofiend: “Spent the last month or so working on this, has a new xbox 360 slim inside, and an 80gig PS3 (normal one not the slim, as I couldnt afford to buy two new consoles for this project I just used mine)
I kept a work log and took photos as I made this so if anybodys interested I shall upload the project as a whole for you to see how it was done.”
On remarks to how the cooling system works in this machine, timeofiend wrote:
“Fan cooling, the Xbox 360 is using the stock cooler on the machine (on the new slim so the stock fan/heatsink assembly is much better than the original xbox ones) and the ps3 uses an assembly I made, which is pretty much just a 120mm fan with a shroud redirecting air to flow through the heatsink. That was the one I was most worried about, and shall be keeping a very close eye on. There is room to stick a 90mm fan on the case side, and redirect air downward through the heatsinks, if necessary. The testing I have done so far doesnt seem like it needs it, but if I have to I will chuck another one on there.
Half considered water cooling, but at the end of the day I couldnt afford to get a whole water cooling system, as most of the custom built part of this project was made out of things I already had at home.”
He mentioned in his first edited post that he would post up just how he exactly did, though to this moment he still hasn’t gone ahead with the info. If only he’d provide a suitable a tutorial on how to do this cause we’d definitely be all over this ourselves.
