Facebook is Quietly Deleting Users Posts

I made a post about 30 seconds ago on Facebook - which may get deleted by Facebook without my control in a few minutes. I learned about this during episode 668 of the Tech Guy podcast with Leo Laporte, he mentioned that one of his listeners posted a link on his Facebook wall to WikiHow’s article on how to delete a Facebook account permanently, and Facebook quietly deleted it without any notice or response. This is scaring me - Read more after the break!

The post I made on Facebook

Leo, who confirmed he deleted his Facebook account last week (along with the TWiT fan page) has gotten a tip from one of his listeners, “Nick” that every time he posts a link to the WikiHow article, it gets deleted by Facebook without any notice or reason. Obviously, Facebook does not like users posting stuff like this, and in my case, I have yet to see if my post gets deleted (9 minutes in, and its still up).

The frightening part is, that this happened two more times to listeners “Notice” and “Lew”, who confirmed that their post was “deleted in a matter of minutes”. This is unbelievably scary, and just goes to show that Facebook is watching what you do, and they have full control over all of your content. You can find the claims on “The Tech Guy” show notes page (scroll down a bit).

    What does this mean?

This confirms that Facebook has full control over major aspects of your account, and the content that you add to it. This is a huge issue, and should get you thinking “is Facebook violating my free speech rights?” and are they controlling what you can say. This is just another way that Facebook is shoving your rights, privacy and freedom under the carpet, and focusing on making money, gaining market share, and hoarding your private info. This is scary and we should be taking action.

You can take action by participating in “Quit Facebook Day” where 14,000+ people are planning to delete their Facebook accounts and stop Facebook from lurching forward into controlling our personal lives.

It is really a shame to see what used to be a simple, fun and open environment, turn into a information hungry, money hoarding, and careless network that does not give a crap about your rights to privacy, and does everything they can to prevent you from controlling your information.

I am also including some more links below…
