Final Fantasy X not just getting an HD port, but full blown remake for PS3 and Vita
In the last decade or so it’s been hard to say that Square Enix has come up with anything new or original. I mean, do they make anything else besides Final Fantasy remakes, spin off’s or Kingdom Hearts games? Well, the future doesn’t seem to be changing since we’re expecting to see Final Fantasy X remerge on the Vita and PS3… as a full blown remake? Wait, what and hold the phone! As one of the most iconic games in the series this might be a big deal.
Final Fantasy producer Yoshinori Kitase has revealed that the re-release of Final Fantasy X for Vita and PS3 is more of a remake than anything else:
In an interview with German mag M! Games (via PSLS), Kitase said the project was in its early stages of development, despite it being announced at Tokyo Game Show last September by Square’s Shinji Hashimoto.
While it’s not clear what role he’ll have in its development, even though he was producer for the original, he will “ensure that the remake of the game will have the same quality as the original.”
With the 10th anniversary of Final Fantasy X happening last year, there’s nothing more I could want than a remake of my favorite Final Fantasy entry. While others gawk and go crazy over FF7, the title that cuaght my entry was the wildly original X. It was the first to host voice acting, even if it was at (most) times awkward and just plain weird, and it even had some of the industry’s best visuals to date.
The gameplay itself was still classic but with a refined level-up system found in its sphere grid. And as with most games in the Final Fantasy series, its storyline and plot twists are some of the most memorable in my gaming career.
