George Clooney and Noah Wyle competing for the role of Steve Jobs in the upcoming film
Just a few days shortly thereafter, maybe even hours after his death was confirmed, Sony was already negotiating for the rights to make a biopic on the life of Apple’s late CEO. And with production moving smoothly, the same guys who slapped together the Academy Award nominated Facebook film, The Social Network, will soon have to make up their mind on who gets to play the role of Steve Jobs. In the eyes of tech-enthusiasts, there’s only one clear choice and that’s Noah Wyle, who played Jobs in the made for tv movie Pirates of Silicon Valley. But now word on the street is it that George Clooney, one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, would also like to throw his name in for consideration.
The Sun is reporting that Clooney is interested in the role of Steve Jobs despite looking and sounding nothing like him. This would definitely bring more than the usual attention to a film geared more for those interested in the industry and history of Silicon Valley. On the otherhand, Wyle is a mirror image of Jobs, who even walked out and began MacWorld’s keynote address as Steve Jobs, that is until the real deal came out to break the illusion — even going so far to show him how he would’ve done it, mannerisms and all.
If you’re Sony’s casting director for the upcoming film then you certainly have your hands full. But what do you think? Well, according to a poll run currently on 9to5Mac, 63.4% out of the over 9,000 votes have so far have gone to Wyle. As for us, we’re rooting for Noah since there seriously is no comparison, I don’t care if you are George Clooney.
