How the big tech companies got their famous names

Not a day passes by where big tech companies don’t brighten our life. Putting the flame wars aside and the nerdfights at bay, it truly is wonderful what we have — thanks to these nerdy companies that bubbled out of basements, garages and motels. Sure, the guys who built the gears that turn the tech industry are long gone, but the days of suits and offices are gone as well.

We are in an age of running servers for a search engine out of lego cases, building the first personal computers in a garage and turning videogames into proffessional sports — but when you take a quick moment to step back and look with a critical point of view… where the hell did they get these company names? It seems that they decided by throwing scrabble tiles onto the floor, but today I learned that each company has a story behind the brand name.

How did they get their company names?
