How to get free data for your iPad 3G using iPhone 4 SIM Card
If you have ever run a home network, you know to make sure your password is strong so people don’t start stealing your WiFi. Well, thanks to the bright bulbs over at AT&T you don’t have to pay AT&T twice to access the internet with your iPad 3G. They have decided to keep the same Cellular Data credentials for years and still have it named as “CINGULAR”. It’s now free for the pickin’. First, you need to slide in your iPhone 4 Micro SIM card into the iPad 3G.
Here are the APN settings that are needed:
- APN name: wap.cingular
- username: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
- password: CINGULAR1
After changing the APN settings and enabling cellular data I again used Safari to test out my internet connection. It stuttered at first and I thought I had failed, but soon the connection picked up and I was browsing the web over 3G. It was very exciting to use my iPad over 3G for the first time all without having to pay for an additional data plan — Aron Trimble, TUAW
