HP Slate Commercial shows just how Crappy it is
The HP slate is junk — and I can’t deny that. I have tried to see the good in it, like a full OS and desktop class applications — but that kind of software does not work on a device designed for fingers. You can’t simply put Windows 7 on a tablet and expect it to work, you need to, first off, get rid of the cursor. Nobody is going to be using a mouse on the HP slate, so why haven’t they gotten rid of the cursor. This is truly a half-assed try at a tablet, and I don’t see anyone else jumping for joy — except people who don’t understand that pens are made for paper.
Why the HP slate isn’t ready for humans
HP, people have fingers ok? Fingers tips are about the size of a dime, and they are not meant to use a desktop operating system, on a small screen. They are not meant to operate tiny little drop-down menus and text boxes, and a certainly not meant to interact with the “close, minimize and maximize” buttons found in Windows — never mind the file menus.
My favorite part of the ad (0:15) is where the doctor is trying to zoom in on an x-ray, and all I can see is jerky lag. He then goes to scroll down the photo, but it takes so long to respond, HP decided to cut it out just after he lets go, trying to save themselves the embarrassment.
Another part to notice is at 0:55 where the man is trying to answer a Skype call, but after he presses the button (hard), nothing happens, and he motions to press it again, but that was also cut out. I find it so sad to see a potentially great product, be such a pile of crap.
Will this product be a success? — Unfortunately not. There were high hopes for the HP slate, and after months of cancellation, and speculation, it finally came but it was just horrific how slow it was. There was a video that came out not to long ago, demoing the HP slate, and that it where I started to doubt it’s validity as a consumer, or enterprise product.
Hands on with the HP Slate - Makes us cringe
