Windows 8 pre-beta demo - Very slick, fast and new, but does it make sense?

We don’t quite understand if this is Windows on a tablet, or Windows for a tablet. There’s a big difference between an operating system designed for a tablet and an OS just simply able to run on a tablet, and Microsoft is trying to offer the best of both worlds, but we’re not quite sure how much sense it makes.

Tablet design before and after the iPad - Comparison

Everyone copies the successful product, and this fact seems to elude the majority of people. I don’t understand how people get seething mad when someone copies a product from Apple (I mean, really? It’s a god-damn phone). But I also don’t understand how companies can throw creativity and “effort” off to the side, and blatantly copy amazing and original products while expecting people to praise it (and some do, which confuses me even more).

Study Claims That Consumers Want Amazon Branded Tablet

A recent study issued by Retrevo claims that many consumers would favour an Amazon branded tablet should one arrive. According to the study, Retrevo found that many consumers are interested in cheaper tablet options, and if a viable alternative to Apple’s market dominating iPad were to come about, it could very well be a serious competitor.

Father steals son's Galaxy Tab 10.1 and uses a pencil to conceal it - Video

Breaking news — You just read a title to a video that seemed ridiculous, but was actually true. In all seriousness, the new Galaxy Tab 10.1 looks to be a real compeditor to Apple’s iPad 2 (it’s actually thinner) and it looks absolutely stunning — something that bugs us though is that a 6 year old boy can afford a Galaxy Tab, and we’re all still broke.

10 inch tablets are child's play - Mondopad sports 55" of epic

There has been a debate smoldering for months about “what is the best screen-size for a tablet?”. Some say 7 inches, and others say 10 inches. It’s nice to have a big screen to see everything clearly, and have more real estate to fit more on the screen. It would seem nuts to have anything bigger, but guess what? Screw your tiny brain…

Windows 8 in action - Looks great, but still seems half-baked

What you see above is Windows 8. This new Operating System will run on PC’s, Laptops and Tablets. Microsoft says Windows 8 is designed for touch first, and the mouse and keyboard second. The look of the operating system is delicious, taking every core component from Windows Phone’s “Metro” UI, and bringing it to the big screen. Windows 8 makes Windows 7 look obsolete — but theres quite a few gaping holes in the Windows 8 wonder.

ASUS Padfone - A tablet that swallows your Phone (running Windows 7?)

ASUS Padfone - A tablet that swallows your Phone (running Windows 7?)

Okay, so this idea is brilliant for a few reasons: One is not having to carry a phone around all the time, but still have your phone if you need it, and another is being able to upgrade the tablet simply by grabbing a new phone — but there are some really confusing details in the video. How are we going to run Windows 7 on a phone (note IE8 at the 1:40 mark) correctly and also, what is the point of using Windows 7 on ARM in the mobile space? We already know it’s a horrible choice for tablets, and it would be torture to work it into a phone.
