It is an HP Slate — which after being canceled, dismissed and forgotten, has popped up in a hands on video, with the early prototype. Sadly, it looks to be (yet another) half assed tablet that runs a desktop OS. HP doesn’t seem to realize that fingers aren’t supposed to use a desktop interface! Tiny little buttons, and… and a mouse?
Now one thing is very clear — this isn’t aimed at the consumer market (and if it is, lord help them). I regret ever having put “hope” into the HP slate, because after seeing the prototypes and feeling the excitement — this really let me down. It’s like stepping back into the 90’s and watching someone struggle with a tablet PC (that your supposed to use a pen with), and tap everything 5 times until it finally registers. This tablet demonstrates everything that is wrong with full OS’s on tablets…
