Is Microsoft going to launch Windows Phone 7 on October 11th?

It wasn’t that long ago Microsoft announced their greatest mobile operating system, however, now that close to 8 months have passed since its initial announcement; geeks, and consumers alike are beginning to get a little bit antsy. Knowing what we know about the OS — the fact that it’s currently in its Gold Master version and there are several leaked Windows Phone 7 devices floating around the Internet — we can only assume that big M is planning an October launch. Well, according to a report from Pocket-lint, one of their sources (whom is simply identified as “senior figures within the industry”) stated that the Redmond company is looking towards October 11th as the big day, with a big WP7 bash to be held in NYC. According to Pocket-lint’s source, handsets will be available later that month, that is providing they are in fact correct.
