Marvel vs. Capcom 3 hadoukens onto shelves February 15th, 2011
We’ve been waiting over 10 years for a true sequel to the fighting giant, Marvel vs. Capcom 2. And last year we finally were treated to the unveiling of Fate of Two Worlds, hosting some of the most beloved comic book and gaming heroes of all time. Well, now we finally have official word on the exact release date of this highly anticipated fighting mash-up, as well as details on the Special Edition set, and the final box art.
Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds hadoukens itself onto shelves February 15th, 2011. And not only that, but along with the Special Edition, which remarkably costs only $10 more than the standard version, that includes a steel case, an artbook, a year long subscription to Marvel’s digital comic service, but you also get access to 2 exclusive DLC characters: Resident Evil’s Jill Valentine, and Doctor Strange’s Shumah Gorath - available 4 weeks after launch.
The box art was drawn up by Marvel veteran Adi Granov, who’s done cover work for the Uncanny X-Men, She-Hulk, Silver Surfer, and the Fantastic Four, just to name a few. While I do think the art packs a punch, I do think that Ryu’s facial structure looks, well… odd and a little too Americanized. I mean, isn’t he supposed to be Japanese? Same goes with Chun-Li and her Chinese roots - just sayin’.
As of now, the total roster count is at 30 fighters, with ten or so still awaiting to be revealed. And with the inclusion of DLC characters, I’m postive we can expect Capcom to keep fans satisfied well past the game’s final release.
The game releases on February 11th in the US, and February 18th in the EU. Better start practicing up with Marvel vs. Capcom 2 until then! Excelsior!!!
