Metro Home - Windows Phone 7 tiles on your Desktop
Forget Apple’s approach to icons and one touch apps — in a world run by Microsoft, it’s about the live tiles. So why not bring the magic of living, breathing icons from your Windows Phone 7 down to your desktop computer? And the best part is, it’s only a single download away.
Brought to you by the wonderful and creative minds at HTC Home, this group of developers who focus on HTC home screens and .Net framework applications have come up with Metro Home, a widget that runs on any PC’s Windows XP, Vista, or 7 desktop and displays simple information; such as weather, date, and time. There is a tile on the bottom meant for Pictures but at the moment it doesn’t work, however all that’s needed are a few images dropped into a certain folder and you’re ready for a slideshow.
Simply download and extract Metro Home, then go into the following folders: Widgets/ WeatherClock/ Pictures/ and from here all you do is copy images into this folder. See? Told you it was easy.
While the app looks pretty snazzy we’ve heard that Rainmeter’s had a very similar theme out for a while now, called Omninmo 3. We’re going to be installing it later this evening and giving it a try, ready for another post in quick fashion so you can choose which of the two Windows Phone 7 live tiles style you’d like resting your Desktop.
