MetroTwit is the first Windows Twitter client that matters
For years, there has never been an amazing Twitter app for Windows. Unfortunately, Twitter still only offers official applications for Mac, iOS and Android, so it’s been up to 3rd party developers to create great experiences on Windows, and it hasn’t been pretty — one word, “AdobeAir”.
Taking cues from Microsoft’s Metro design language, MetroTwit celebrates an elegant and clean user interface that’s beautiful to look at and a pleasure to read — MetroTwit
We just heard about MetroTwit and have been using it for the past few hours and we’re loving it. Now, don’t get us wrong, it’s pretty rough around the edges and there are quite a few bugs, but it’s a beta so that’s expected. We just can’t seem to get over the simple fact that MetroTwit shows the tweet count in Windows 7’s taskbar, which is super awesome and if you’re a fan of Windows Phone 7, the app’s interface overall is to die for.

Some things to point out about MetroTwit is the cool stuff it supports — Trend explinations (What the Trend), Infinite Scrolling, URL Shortening and previews, Auto complete for hashtags and usernames (not even Mac apps have this), really awesome customization options and themes, a really well made notification system, resizeable colums (sort of like TweetDeck) and high DPI support (scaleable to be crisp on any display).
Even though all that stuff is cool, the features for MetroTwit pale in comparison to one thing — a consistant User Interface. MetroTwit is the first Twitter app to comply to Microsoft’s user intefrace on the phone, tablet (maybe soon?) and in the near future, the desktop. MetroTwit really works well, and we think you should give it a try — Were not going to say anything really negative about the app, it’s in beta after all. When it comes time for a review, we’ll be fair like usual.
