Microsoft - "All Kinect Prices Are Placeholders"
There’s been a lot of debate between analysts and gamers alike on just what the heck kinda price point Microsoft’s Kinect will be launching at. We’ve heard numbers as low as $50 all the way to as high as $200 be thrown around, but the sweet spot we’ve all grown comfy with is Amazon’s current listed price of $150. Not only that but it also appears that Microsoft’s own online store has gotten warm to that price as well, but not so fast - that may not be the final price tag.
Microsoft speaks out on the subject after the break!
Stephen “Stepto” Toulouse, Xbox Live’s Director of Policy and Enforcement, tweeted earlier something he wanted all of us to see, “Guys I have nothing to do with Kinect Pricing. All prices now *no matter what the retail source* are placeholders. We’ve not announced. :>”
For me this at least confirms that the highest they’re going to go with this is $150; it’s the ceiling for Kinect, because consumers have already signed up and pre-ordered there devices through their local and online retailers at that price. I doubt Microsoft would turn their backs on them and raise the price.
