New Mortal Kombat Game Revealed
Any true Mortal Kombat fan knows that Mortal Kombat II was undeniably the best MK version ever! The dark tone of the game and the brutal fatalities were just plain epic. It’s such a shame that the series has deviated from that original formula for too long. But not longer, says Ed Boon, original creator of the franchise, when talking to IGN about the upcoming release of a new MK title: “This game really is a response to what players have been demanding: mature presentation, reinvented 2D fighting mechanic and the best, most gruesome fatalities ever!”
Yes, Ed Boon, that’s what we have been craving. Not ripping the head off of Superman, even though Wonder Woman was sexy… but still. We play Mortal Kombat for the tasteless, Tarentino-esque gore that only the hardcore fans love. And thank you for realizing that NOT EVERY GAME needs to be 3D. I’m happy to see MK is going back to its roots with none other than Ed Boon himself at the helm.
But that’s not all, there still are some more treats in store for us die hards! IGN went on to say, “The game will also include new features, such as a 4-player tag-team mode where players battle in teams of two against each other online. Fans can also enjoy the “deepest story mode of any fighting game” and an “extensive” lineup of the series’ iconic characters.” Color me excited! If we put faith in all these fancy words then we can expect to be bestowed with the gory goodness in 2011.
