Nike unveils limited edition Back to the Future 2 shoes, though they aren't power lacing
We got advance warning of this announcement late last night but it didn’t matter, this still is the coolest release we’ve probably ever heard about in our lives. Marty McFly’s 2015 shoeware are becoming a reality thanks to noneother than Nike, but before you get all happy and jump for joy to be the first in your neighborhood to rock these out at the Cafe 80’s you’re going to want to know by what it means by “limited edition”.
Sporting the NIKE name in a futuristic glow, the Nike MAG’s offer a 5 hour life LED outer sole and all the quirks and design that we all originally saw in the second installment of the Back to the Future film series — personally, the greatest trilogy next only to Star Wars. But there is one minor issue with them… they don’t power-lace!
If you can overlook this tiny defect, which may have been the only reason why you’ve cared up to this point, you might be wondering how you can get your hands on a pair of these?
Unfortunately, these geeky kicks will only get a 1,500 limited edition production run and be available only through eBay auctions set to go up for bidding later tonight — 11:30PM EST. Though there’s a reason for all of this. All the profits made from these futuristic shoes will be going to Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Disease research.
Will we see these kicks again in the future? I think there’s a likely chance they’ll get a mass production line in 2015, with this installment being only a test-run to see how badly people want them.
