Official Windows 8 Milestone 1 download leaked (screenshots)

On October 22 2009, Microsoft released Windows 7 to the masses and essentially redeemed itself from the failure that was Vista. Windows 7 became the highest-grossing pre-order product in Amazon’s history, and in 36 hours it was sold out in Japan. Over 320 Million copies have been sold so far and there was no sign of the sales dwindling — Until now…

Someone at Microsoft is getting spanking, Steve Ballmer is probably flipping tables and the irriversable damage to their planned release schegule is taking grip. The full build string for the leaked build is 6.1.7850.0.winmain_win8m1.100922-1508_x86fre_client-enterprise_en-us.iso and it is verified as a genuine Microsoft product.

“Shh… Lets not leak our hard work”This Windows 8 build is the final Milestone 1 build (internal to Microsoft) and most of the Windows 8 features being talked about are either un-finished or missing entirely.

The Windows 8 interface hasn’t been changed much from the Windows 7 look as UI changes usually start happening in a Milestone 3 branch. Most of the features suggested for Windows 8 is an App Store, SmartScreen filter system, Aero upgrades, Mount ISO, IE9 Tile based Metro UI and new additions to the Taskbar.

As usual, the build has trickled it’s way through the intertubes and is now available via torrents and private FTPs. Microsoft is going to do everything they can to keep this out of the public’s hands, but in the end this is just something fun for geeks to play with (nobody is going to download this except us). I mean, what harm would it do and why would we spread negitivity about a barely started OS? - The best thing Microsoft can do right now is concentrate on keeping things within the ring of people who will download this, and make it very clear that this release is very unfinished and do it publicly and very loudly.

The Bare Desktop & Wallpaper - Shhh…. Don’t tell anyone!

Desktop with Start menu - The UI Remains un-changed for this build

The User Control Stuff - The user control area seems cool and average users will love it.

Someone downloading the ISO - Shhh… Be vewy vewy quiet…
