PayPal Sues Google, Claims Misappropriation of Trade Secrets
PayPal, the world’s largest growing online mobile payment service recently filed a lawsuit against online mobile search giant Google. According to information gleaned from the lawsuit, PayPal is currently claiming that Google misappropriated trade secrets affiliated with PayPal’s mobile business model.
According to the online payment service, a former PayPal executive now at Google, Osama Bedier, stole confidential proprietary information. The lawsuit which was filed in a San Jose, California court sometime yesterday specifies that “Bedier and Google have misappropriated PayPal trade secrets by disclosing them with Google and to major retailers.”
Currently both companies are wishing to push from online sales into major storefronts. PayPal, based in San Jose, California, has been in talks with major retailers to develop a new sale system. On the other side of the valley, Google recently announced two new services that will allow consumers to pay retail merchants via their smartphone.
Traditionally it isn’t uncommon for large corporations to sue former employees, especially if that individual held some form of power within in their former employers company. However, most fail. Alas this time it would appear as though PayPal has tangible evidence to bring to the table. How will this lawsuit pan out? Only time will tell, but should any more news come forward we will be sure to report it.
