PlayStation Move - What you need to know
I am going to say it, it looks like some sort of weird sex toy/under-arm deodorant hybrid - but you can play with EyePets! All jokes aside, it does appear to be somewhat of a viable peripheral for the PS3 and while watching the live stream, it seemed to be performing well. The controller is Sony’s answer to Nintendo’s Wii Remote and Microsoft’s Project Natal for Xbox 360, all of which are trying to take gaming to a "Whole new level".
The release dates and prices are still a bit foggy - but there is a definite window for launch, and a pretty solid price range. PS Move is supposed to be really versatile in terms of interacting with other hardware, like the Sony Eye and a second "Move" along with a "Sub-Controller" which is really a Nunchuk with a horrible name. "Move" uses a little colored light on top of it for the camera to track, along with internal sensors. It seems pretty primitive and "Last-Gen" but we need one in our hands to make judgments.
Move seems to be a big improvement over the WiiMote and Nunchuk for a couple reasons - The ability to work in harmony with another input device, in this case the Playstation Eye, and the lack of cords, which drive me crazy when it comes to tethering the WiiMote to the Nunchuk and having that wire flailing all over the place.
Move is expected to launch in Fall of 2010 - right next to Microsoft’s competing Project Natal system for the Xbox 360. They are planning to charge under $100 for a package including Move, the PlayStation Eye camera and one game, which is a pretty sweet deal.
