Skype jumps ship: Isn't planning on creating an app for WP7
Skype — a name synonymous with VoIP applications — has recently informed every Tom, Dick and Harry that it’s not planning on releasing the fruits of its loins to Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 OS. The company’s Vice President for the Asia Pacific region (Dan Neary) stated that the company’s “not developing software for the new Windows Mobile software due later this year.” Make what you will from this, but if Skype’s statement is based around the same issues that Mozilla brought forward (lack of access to the right dev tools) then perhaps other giants of the cloud-computing world will renege out of the WP7 app making market as well.

It appears that Dan Neary’s quote has been used out of context. According to MobileTechWorld who followed up on the story; Windows Phone 7 is currently on the list of supported OSes. When asked Dan Neary stated that Windows Mobile won’t be supported (which makes sense in lieu of Windows Phone 7’s future release). Sorry for the confusion, but as of now Skype is planning on developing a Windows Phone 7 app.
