Tablet design before and after the iPad - Comparison
Everyone copies the successful product, and this fact seems to elude the majority of people. I don’t understand how people get seething mad when someone copies a product from Apple (I mean, really? It’s a god-damn phone). But I also don’t understand how companies can throw creativity and “effort” off to the side, and blatantly copy amazing and original products while expecting people to praise it (and some do, which confuses me even more).
One of these cases is Apple’s iPad. This company is one of the rare tech companies ever to foresee the future almost 10 years in advanced (yes, the iPad was in R&D since around 2001-2002 according to Steve Jobs) and follow through down to every detail. A completely re-written OS and wonderful hardware made the iPad one of the hottest selling gadgets of all time, but of course the iPad soon became a template for every other tablet to ever be made after that point simply because it made a lot of money.
So all of this complaining of mine leads to one point — when a company takes a dying market and turns it into an insane money maker, breakthrough success, why do we always bash them? I mean, if anyone can create an amazing product in any market, it does not matter if they we’re first or not — If people always say “well, everyone else did it first!” and you disagree, just know you’re smart enough to see innovation when you see it.
