    Targus Impax netbook sleeve review

Here at Okay Geek, we’re pretty big fans of messenger bags and backpacks for toting around our laptops. But sometimes we need something a little sleeker and more form fitting. And that is what laptop sleeves are for. Today, we take a look at the Targus Impax netbook sleeve for netbooks up to 10.2” in size. Featuring materials such as double layer neoprene and fleece, how’s the Impax as a sleeve?

    Features

    • designed to fit netbooks up to 10.2”
    • protective corner bumpers
    • double wall neoprene
    • cushioned fleece lining

    Our Impressions

The Targus Impax comes with a cardboard wrapping and is packed with foam to retain its shape.

The sleeve itself is fairly inconspicuous but not too drab or boring either. The main material used in double wall neoprene with stretch jersey. The bottom corners are covered by rubber pads and are accented in a yellow/orange color. The white interior is covered in fleece to avoid scratching. A large accented zipper easy to find and open/close the sleeve. And at 8.16 oz, it won’t add to much weight to carry around.

The exact dimensions of the exterior are 12” x 0.75” x 8.5” (30.48 x 1.91 x 21.59 cm) while the interior measures 10.62” x 1.5” 7.52” (26.97 x 3.81 x 19.1 cm). The sleeve fits netbooks sizing up to 10.2”. Our Dell Mini 10v slid in and out easily although it wasn’t as tight as we’d like. Your mileage may vary depending on what netbook you have so we recommend making exact measurements to see how much extra space there will be; with laptop sleeves, the tighter the fit, the better.

    Overall

There’s no question that the Impax is one of the finest netbook sleeves we’ve come across. Its protective double layer neoprene exterior is matched with a soft scratch-resistant fleece interior. Rugged corners ensure that in the event of a drop, there’ll be extra shock absorbtion to cushion the fall. Our only recommendation is to check the exact dimensions of your netbook to match them up with the interior dimensions of the Impax to ensure a snug fit.

    Pro’s

    • good materials
    • rugged corners

    Con’s

    • isn’t a perfect fit for all netbooks
