The RIAA and MPAA want to put spyware on your computer to delete stuff
RIAA/MPAA Want Government-Mandated Spyware That Deletes ‘Infringing’ Content Automatically on your computer using your money that should be going towards your family’s safety.
This is as bad as it can possibly get in the war over copyright protection and DRM. The RIAA and MPAA have submitted a plan to the Office of Intellectual Property Enforcement, and it is absolutely terrifying!
They want to have the legal right to place spyware on all computers to automatically detect and remove “infringing” content. They want to be able to prevent you from downloading anything they don’t think legal. They want to permit mandatory border searches on every person crossing the border. They also want free copyright enforcement provided by Fed cops and agencies (including the Department of Homeland Security!).
This is not even the most frightening - they want to use your tax money, and your resources to protect their failing business model, and keep money in their pockets. They want to put your family at risk by using funds provided for the FBI and Homeland Security who keep you safe, so they can get free taxpayer-supported muscle to protect their summer blockbuster films.
More info after the break!
What they are trying to do
This are the laws that the entertainment industry is ordering us to follow
- spyware on your computer that detects and deletes infringing materials;
- mandatory censorware on all Internet connections to interdict transfers of infringing material;
- border searches of personal media players, laptops and thumb-drives;
- international bullying to force other countries to implement the same policies;
- and free copyright enforcement provided by Fed cops and agencies (including the Department of Homeland Security!).
Do not sit and watch
This is a completely un-patriotic and terrifying act that is going to turn out much worse than we expected if we don’t do something about it! T3ch H3lp wants you to stand up, and do whatever your geeky minds can think up. This is our shining moment as Geeks, don’t let this pass. They have no idea what is coming, you know what to do.
