Twitch.tv for livestreaming gamers expands partner program

Livestreaming has deeply rooted itself in the gaming world for a whole number of reasons; would-be consumers want to see what a game is like before buying it, players who know they aren’t going to play the game but would like to watch it in its entirety, or just those who are a little bored and want to hang out with some other fellow gamers, the whole idea is much like having friends on the couch. Justin.tv is aware of its popularity and has made a whole new site dedicated just for it - Twitch.tv.

The site has been announced for a little over a month now, but it’s partner program has been quite a doozy to get into… well, that’s not the case anymore. The site has updated its requirements for wouldbe partners with the following criteria needs:

To qualify as a TwitchTV Partner, you must:

Meet ALL of the following requirements

    • Minimum concurrent viewers average: 500
    • AND Minimum channel views number: 300,000
    • AND Minimum followers: 1,000

Or, meet ANY of the following requirements

    • Minimum concurrent viewers average: 1,000
    • Minimum channel views number: 800,000
    • Minimum followers: 4,000

And for those who have pre-recorded content who haven’t streamed on the site so far can use Youtube stats:

    For newcomers to live-streaming
Aspiring TwitchTV partners who have not yet streamed live content are also encouraged to apply. They simply need to meet the following criteria with regard to pre-recorded video game content (using YouTube as an example):

This opens the window for a slew of new streamers to get into the mix. Most of the stuff on the site so far are FPS and RTS type games, but I would really love to see some retro series get thrown in the mix.
