USB Batteries - Why has nobody thought of this until now?

YankoDesign may just be one of my favorite sites on the internet for reasons just like this. Designer, Wonchul Hwang, has come up with an idea that just makes the brain wonder, “why has nobody thought of this until now?” AA batteries that charge when plugged into a USB port.

Scratch that, it has been thought up before, USB Cell has been making these things for years. However, they don’t give me the same feeling of reinvention as this concept design does. And while it may seem a bit counterintuitve, seeing as most major consumer electronics are rechargeable nowadays (see iPod, cellphones, gaming handhelds), there are still a TON of utility type devices that are still running on disposable, Earth killing batteries; like flashlights and toys. To remedy this situation, Hwang came up with a simple concept that perhaps may just be too awesome for big companies like Duracell ad Energizer to handle.

Operating the battery is as easy as clicking both ends to measure its current charge, and then plugging it into any USB port to have it restore its energy. Nothing could be simpler, and nothing could be harder to change due to just how much money big battery companies must make after selling thousands upon thousands of dispoable batteries each and every year.
