Steve Jobs taking Medical Leave from Apple
Steve Jobs will eventually go down in the history books as a modern day inventor. His business strategies, his schemes, and his visions have become common place in today’s technology run world. Consumer products like the iPod, iPhone, and iPad are the best devices in their field, not in opinion, but in fact. The way he does and thinks just works, just like everything else that comes out of his home town of Cupertino. But despite being one of the world’s leading thinkers doesn’t mean he doesn’t breath and bleed like the rest of us.
In 2009, Jobs took half a year off when he went under for a transplant in relation to pancreatic cancer, which he was diagnosed with in 2004. Today, he again is taking another leave of absence, sending this email to all of Apple’s employees:
Team,
At my request, the board of directors has granted me a medical leave of absence so I can focus on my health. I will continue as CEO and be involved in major strategic decisions for the company.
I have asked Tim Cook to be responsible for all of Apple’s day to day operations. I have great confidence that Tim and the rest of the executive management team will do a terrific job executing the exciting plans we have in place for 2011.
I love Apple so much and hope to be back as soon as I can. In the meantime, my family and I would deeply appreciate respect for our privacy.
Steve
Though he may be a prick sometimes, looking for the next person to screw over in the name of big business, we find that even Steve Jobs is human afterall. Get well.
