Using AirPlay has been a lot of fun

If you have ever watched Avatar, Star Trek, or any other Sci-fi show, you know how cool their gadgets were. Apple has always been slightly ahead of the curve with their devices but AirPlay has to be one of the best software updates in a while. Now yes, it’s going to make our generation even lazier, but it also allows us to share movies, pictures, and music when we visit our friends’ homes. Imagine having every movie you ever owned on your iPhone, and walking to your friends house to watch it with in seconds. All you have to do is play the video on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, then click AirPlay and it’s now streaming full screen to the TV!

Apple’s AirPlay Promotional Video

I’ve been testing out the 4.2 update for months but the video feature wasn’t enabled. Before I was able to stream audio to the TV but that was quite frankly, pointless. After spending a few hours with the final update, I am very excited to see more people get it and be part of the “crowd” again. Like I said before, it would be awesome if I just walk to my friends house and we start watching the movie from my device without having to search for DVDs or rent it.

After testing everything thourly, I found that you actually can stream all your photos, music, videos, and even videos from Youtube. The thing I like about the ability to stream Youtube now is I can search from my phone instead of having to slowly select every letter on the Apple TV. Half the time, no matter where I’m surfing Youtube, what I type in the first few times don’t help me find what I was looking for, so this will be a huge benefit. Netflix has announced it will not support AirPlay as of now, but in a perfect world, I wouldn’t see why they wouldn’t eventually. With a price tag of $100 I highly recommend getting the new Apple TV, and being able to have friends over and share everything from your phones and pads on the big-screen.
