Valve confirms Cross-Platform Play of Portal 2, Free Steam Copy for PS3 Players
Although today’s news has been largely dominated by the announcement of various Square Enix related games, Valve slyly confirmed that PS3 and PC players would be able to play cross-platform multiplayer games with each other in Portal 2. Sorry Xbox 360 players, looks like their isn’t going to be any love for you guys any time soon.
Along with the confirmed “persistent cloud based storage of the PS3 save games” and the almost required ability for cross platform chat between PC, PS3 and Mac, any players who purchase the game on PS3, and link their Steam and PSN accounts together, will receive a free copy of Portal 2 for Mac and PC. Talk about some great incentives! If there’s one company I know will get this right, it’s Valve. So please don’t screw it up!
Portal 2 is still set to launch on April 18th in the US and April 22nd in the Europe for PS3, 360, PC and Mac.
