Apple event coming Oct 20th - "Back to the Mac"

Well, it’s that time of year again and Apple is planning to bless us with more “Mac stuff” in around 7 days — most say it will be a revamp to OS X and a new Macbook Air, but others are predicting (and dreading) that Apple may introduce an iOS/OS X hybrid and slowly kill of the Mac as we know it — but one thing is for sure, there will be new products from Apple on October 20th, and we’ll be watching the keynote like a bunch of hawks.

E-waste is getting out of control - Infographic

In today’s world, we want more (and better quality) for less, and less money. The average household has enough electronics to build an (awesome) gadget-fort, and the most popular way to get rid of the gadgets we no-longer want is to simply toss them on the trash. Little thought is put into what actually happens behind the scenes, and how our electronics are picked apart for valuable metals, and disposed of. Here is a simple infographic of how much e-waste we are generating, and a video showing what actually happens when you “recycle” a gadget.

Paranormal Activity 2 gets a Trailer and some Viral Clips

Paranormal Activity was one of the most talked about films of the last few years, and has become a cult classic among horror movie buffs, and even though we weren’t really expecting it, Paranormal Activity 2 is on it’s way to theaters, and the trailer doesn’t seem to disappoint. It’s the same situation and the same type of layout as the last film, but there is a creepy baby this time ‘round — and that is sure to make you scream, right?

There are also some pretty creepy video clips to enjoy

iPhone 4 sent to space attached to a weather balloon - captures amazing video

iPhone 4 sent to space attached to a weather balloon - captures amazing video

This is one of those moments where nothing else seems to matter — seeing the curvature of the earth, and the horizon where outer-space meets humans. The view is breathtaking and the drop from 100,000 feet (19 miles high) and zooms back to earth in an almost perfect fashion. The truly remarkable part of this video is it was done out of pure curiosity, and love of discovery. Just a father and son, flying balloons on a windy day.

In August 2010, we set out to send a camera to space. The mission was to attach an HD video camera to a weather balloon and send it up into the upper stratosphere to film the blackness beyond our earth. Eventually, the balloon will grow from lack of atmospheric pressure, burst, and begin to fall.

It would have to survive 100 mph winds, temperatures of 60 degrees below zero, speeds of over 150 mph, and the high risk of a water landing. To retrieve the craft, it would need to deploy a parachute, descend through the clouds and transmit a GPS coordinate to a cell phone tower. Then we have to find it…

Quote from the video’s creator (un-able to find the original uploader)

Update - Apparently the iPhone 4 was just used as a GPS transmitter and nothing more — a GoPro Hero camera was used to capture video. Thanks J.D. Remington (comments).

It's official - Digg is bringing back the Bury Button

Well, it looks like the flamewar has finally started to die out and the smoke is starting to clear over at Digg. If you missed it, Digg has been coming under fire over the New Digg V4 and had to deal with swarms of raging users, angry about the upgrade.

“In the next few weeks we’ll bring back the bury button, restore all user profiles (including comment and submission history), add filters and navigation for videos and images, provide a tool for users to report comment violations, and update the Top News algorithm and overall site design based upon your feedback.” — Matt Williams, Digg’s new CEO from the Digg Blog.

Windows Phone 7 has become talk of the town, and there is no denying it is a real compeditor in the mobile technology spectrum, but what does it offer? The iPad is the worlds fastest selling gadget

Do you know what Apple sells every 2 seconds? An iPad — and does that come as a surprise? Nope, not really. — Apple’s shiny iPad has been crowned with the title of the fastest selling gadget, with 49,000 sold every day and 4.5 Million every quarter, which is mind boggling…
