App Review - F-Plus Facebook Tool for Android

By now we are all familiar with the shortcomings of the Facebook for Android app. One big shortcoming is the notifications. How much does it suck to only be able to get notifications for messages, friend requests and Event invites? And then, the only options you have for refresh intervals are 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours, 4 hours and never. That’s an Epic Fail if I ever saw one. Enter F-Plus Facebook Tool, a tool that makes the Facebook for Android app do what it should’ve done in the first place.

What does it do?: You finally get notifications for things you actually care about. You know, notifications for comments, likes and messages. And you get to choose intervals less than 30 minutes, check out photo albums for yourself and friends and even has Facebook Places support. Also, it’s very easy to tag people in photos and leave comments on them as well. The only thing I’m not impressed with is the widget. i almost wish it wasn’t there in comparison to the quality of the overall product.

Google Latitude App for iPhone - Privacy be damned!

If anything, this should be called reverse stalking. You rock Connor (T3ch H3lp editor) , but I got an invite from you where Google told me you wanted to “share your location with me on Google Latitude”, and inside the email was a map with you on it, supposedly where you live. If anything, this is basically an invitation for me to stalk you, and being the kind person I am, I declined. It just feels wrong… damn Google, you scary!

Ask Max: Samsung Solstice II or Samsung Mythic?

In today’s edition of Ask Max, I had an interesting question from a friend. He wasn’t interested in a smartphone but rather interested in something midrange. Of course, I had to fight back all sorts of urges to tell him why he shouldn’t stop at a lower tier but reach for the cutting edge. The only thing that stopped me though was realizing this fact: the bleeding edge isn’t for everyone. So he came to me with two phones in mind, The Samsung Mythic and The Samsung Solstice II. And he threw down the gauntlet. Which one do I choose? Let’s examine this.
