Youtube gets an awesome new re-design (how to enable it)

Youtube has just announced that a new user experience has creeped into the Beta labs on Youtube. It’s essentially a visual overhaul with no real features added, but the way the new layout works is really slick, and feels a lot like the mobile site, with larger buttons. The new player is really nice also, and the entire site seems to have been blacked out — more screenshots after the break, and how you can enable it!

How to enable the new Youtube look

The new layout is called “Cosmic Panda” and you can jump over to this page right here to enable the new look and try it out. Youtube has also made an official announcement on their blog, telling a few facts (3 billion views a day etc.) and giving a little inside info into the new update.

With nearly 8 years of video uploaded and 3 billion views logged every day on YouTube, it’s clear you like to watch and share YouTube videos. While you’re watching your favorite or new videos, we at the ‘Tube are obsessing night and day over how those videos are presented. Our team is constantly experimenting, tweaking and playing with new ways to make your experience exactly what you’re looking for — Noam Lovinsky, Product Manager

So obviously, Google is trying really hard to pump some new life into the admittedly rather “stale” Youtube experience with a new look, and tying it all in with the new Gmail layout and Google+ look. Overall it feels really soild, and the new player is pretty rad — but we all know when this goes live, the revolt will be huge…
