All 2010 HTC Smartphones revealed - too good to be true?
We know that HTC comes out with a slew of new phones every year, and they are all pretty sweet. Who knew that all the secret phones that are coming 2010, we now all know about. There are 4 types of smartphone, which can be running Windows Mobile and Android. The 4 designs are broken up into four target demo categories: Design / Lifestyle, Social, Performance, and Productivity. List of all the phones, and their specs after the break.
Design and Lifestyle
Specs and Features: Although this looks like the Hero, this 11.4mm metallic framed beast sports a clickable optical pad, 5 megapixel AF cam, and 3.2-inch AMOLED display. It also has T-Mobiles name attached to it. Retail in March.
Specs and Features: This peppy little wafer of a phone makes to be a nice chick gadget. It has a nice portrait QWERTY, 3.2 megapixel camera, an FM radio and a Qualcomm MSM7225 at 528MHz. Retail in June.
Social
Specs and Features: By the looks of this phone, this is sure to be a hit for the younger market. A full touch with a numeric keypad below the display, 3.2 megapixel camera and a 528MHz MSM7225. Retail in April.
Specs and Features: This phone looks as if it came out of an IKEA magazine. It has interchangeable back plates and it also has a 5 megapixel AF cam with flash. Like many of the others here, it has T-Mobile's name attached to it, raises questions.
Performance
Specs and Features: This is the first time HTC pairs Android with Snapdragon to make the device truly worthy of being in the "Performance" category. It's got DivX support, 720p video capture through a 5 megapixel AF cam with flash, a 3.7-inch AMOLED display, and that Qualcomm Snapdragon buzzing along at 1GHz. Retail in April.
Productivity
Specs and Features: If Windows Mobile 6.5 is more your thing, the Photon looks like it could be a fit in your "productive" lifestyle (see what I did there). It sports a 3.2-inch HVGA capacitive display, 5 megapixel cam, and a 600MHz MSM7227. Retail in April
Specs and Features: This could very well be the coolest WinMo 6.5 portrait QWERTY phone ever released! It's got a 3-inch VGA capacitive display, a 600MHz MSM7227, but it's scheduled to hit a month later in May.
Specs and Features: If the Touch Pro2 needed a little sibling, the Tera would be it; it preserves the form factor but moves down to a 3-inch WQVGA resistive display. Retail in April.
Summary
So these devices will make up the HTC smartphone lineup for 2010. They did something interesting by categorizing the devices in such a way that the consumer would almost be able to decide on a device, without needing assistance. They stuck with a tight hardware variation, with only the Bravo using a Snapdragon CPU, and they made all the phones have roughly the same specs, to put the focus on looks and other features.
