How To: Use Facebook Chat on your Nokia N900

So you purchased a Nokia N900 thinking that it would be the best Nokia handset to date. Head hung high, you begin to use it…. oh wait, whats the matter now? Guess you noticed that there's no way to use Facebook chat. Disappointed you hunt around the internet looking for an alternative, however, in your exploits you only ever found poorly created, battery draining beta applications. If you're one these people we suggest that you read on.

Announced on Wednesday; Facebook stated that they would be making Facebook chat compatible with Jabber. Guess what? The N900 has supported the Jabber application since it first launched, looks like your in luck.

Step 1:

On your N900, go to Settings - VoIP and IM accounts and click on the new button. Proceed further and select Jabber as your service of choice.

Step 2:

Secondly you're going to have to find out your Facebook chat username, you can do this by clicking here. (Once there you're going to want to select "Other - Windows/Mac/Linux") You're just going to have to know your Jabber ID and your Facebook password from here on out.

Step 3:

Head back over to your Jabber account setup (If you have forgotten how to do this, refer back to Step 1). Enter in your details and then you're good to go.

Voila! If you've performed the aforementioned tasks correctly, you should now be able to chat with your Facebook friends.
