Apple admits that 5.0.1 update hasn't fixed the battery problem for 4S owners

Since the release of the iPhone 4S, users of the latest Apple handset have been plagued by less-than-stellar battery life. Apple promptly addressed the issue and planned to rectify it with a software update that would patch whatever bugs were causing the battery’s juices to leak all over the digital floor, so to speak. Well, it just so happens that the recent 5.0.1 update — that went live a few days ago — not only did nothing to fix the battery problem, but it also made the issue more widespread to 4S owners who never even had battery difficulties to begin with. in the wake of this PR disaster, Apple wants to let you know they’re aware of it.

Apple however, doesn’t want to make its customers feel like their voices aren’t heard. And so the A-team has released a statement admitting to the update’s failings:

“The recent iOS software update addressed many of the battery issues that some customers experienced on their iOS 5 devices. We continue to investigate a few remaining issues,” Trudy Miller, an Apple spokeman revealed.

How can I When is 5.0.2 due out for release? No word on when such an update will hit Apple airwaves — which in case you haven’t realized yet; you can update via WiFi, without the need to plug in your iDevice to a computer. To do so, simply go to your Settings and then General, and Software Update. From that screen you’ll be told whether or not there is an update awaiting you as an optional download.

As for whether you should download 5.0.1 if you do find your phone would like you to update, we recommend holding off until Apple actually rectifies the battery issue. The update itself doesn’t do much else, or at least nothing major to the point where you need it ASAP — that is, unless you’re Australian and would like Siri to understand you better, which in that case you might need that dictation update.
