Apple - iPhone 3GS going for only $49 beginning tomorrow
CES may be the one thing on tech enthusiasts’ minds right now but Apple sure knows how to divert attention despite not attending the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. In a new press release issued by Apple, the iPhone 3GS will now be priced at the low price of only $49 beginning tomorrow (January 7th) for existing customers looking to upgrade or for new customers ready to sign away two years of their life to AT&T.
Some may say this is a last ditch effort by AT&T to get new contracts signed away before the Verizon deal finally becomes official, but word has it that they have no say so in the pricing of Apple products. Only the head honchos at Cupertino get that luxury.
Regardless, it’s a pretty sweet deal considering the iPhone 3GS is still a competent handset, able to hold its own as a lite version of the iPhone 4. And since it can pretty much do everything the iPhone 4 can, minus Facetime, HD Video capture, and Retina Display, it’s definitely something to consider as perhaps a gift to someone who’s finally ready to make the leap into smartphones.
Check your local AT&T store and tell us if you decided to hop on this deal or simply wait for iPhone 5.
