First Bioshock 2 DLC Pack Revealed

2K Games brought you Bioshock 2 this month and while it wasn't as good as the original, it was still a great game. One thing Ricardo and I weren't so enthusiastic about was Bioshock 2's multiplayer, which is still broken on PC by the way, which just doesn't pack enough of a punch to compete with other "better" multiplayer shooters out there.

Well regardless, 2K Games seems to think Bioshock 2's multiplayer has some kind of fanbase, with the company announcing it's first multiplayer focused DLC for the game, entitled the "Sinclair Solutions Test Pack."

Starcraft 2 Closed Beta is Live

Yes, you heard right; the closed beta for Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty is finally here! The sequel, which has reportedly been in production for close to twelve years now, has so many people excited, it's getting to the point of ridiculousness. And this is just for the Beta.

We've been getting hints that the beta would be this week, with an FAQ and System Requirements on the Beta being posted not too long ago. It's nuts to think about just how many people are excited for this but Blizzard's sales will undoubtedly sky rocket yet again.

Sonic Team isn't making Sonic 4

In another surprising, but pleasant, move by Sega, Sonic Team, the developers of most of the Sonic the Hedgehog games from the old 2D classics to his terrible escapades in 3D, won't be making Sonic 4 if the game's Xbox LIVE marketplace page is to be believed.

While the game will still be published by Sega, the game will be headed by developer Dimps. While this may sound like a horrible idea at first, we have to remember that Dimps developed Sonic Rush and Sonic Advance, two Sonic games that have gone back to their 2D roots on the DS and Gameboy Advance respectively and received generally positive reviews.

This sounds like a great idea to me, Sonic Team probably would have screwed it up again. They got closer with what made Sonic so good in Sonic Unleashed but it still wasn't there, with terrible "were-hog" segments that turned the game into a nightmare to play. Considering that Dimps has experience making some good Sonic games, I think we can rest assured that Sonic 4 is in very good hands.

"Large" Microsoft Franchise Coming to Natal

As Microsoft continues to push Project Natal forward for it's fall release, a new job listing uncovered by CVG has found that a "large franchise" is in the works for the Natal makeover. Unsurprisingly, Microsoft hasn't revealed which one but the job listing shows that it's probably a core franchise with words like "AI, combat and deep story" located within the listing.

While this isn't the first Microsoft franchise to get the Natal treatment, with Fable 3 already in the works to use the Add-On, you have to wonder which franchise it is? Could it be Gears of War? Halo? Something else? I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

PC Review: Mass Effect 2

The first big release of the year in my must play list is here and it is Mass Effect 2. The original Mass Effect was a great game; it had one of the most fleshed out universes Bioware has ever created, and with the innovative and cinematic feel of conversations it's secured its place as one of the Xbox 360 and PC’s best sellers. That isn’t to say it didn’t have some major flaws - the shooting and gameplay were awkward at best, the Mako was an annoying vehicle that didn’t always work as expected, and your AI companions were usually brain dead in combat, not to mention the major graphical issues when loading into an area. This is where I was wondering if Mass Effect 2 would succeed where the original fell short. I'm happy to say that just about everything has been fixed and now runs on all cylinders.

Final Fantasy 13 Xbox 360 Bundle

Well, along with Final Fantasy 13 surprisingly launching for Xbox 360 alongside the PS3, I figured Microsoft would pull something to make the game look more enticing on their system. Turns out that I was right...

Microsoft and Square Enix have just announced a Special Final Fantasy 13 Bundle of the Xbox 360. Similar to the Modern Warfare bundle, the special edition contains a 250gb hard drive, two wireless controllers, a headset, "exclusive Avatar items", and the standard edition of the game. There will also be a limited edition facplate for existing 360's that you can purchase separately and only available for a limited time.

Nintendo is Making New Hardware

In a move that isn't especially surprising, with so many rumors going around, Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed at an Arts Festival in Japan that the company is working on some new hardware. While he didn't confirm what it was or if it was even a handheld or a console, my guess would be the Wii HD or that motion controlled handheld that was rumored a few months ago.

It would definitely make logical sense for the Wii HD, improve the graphics so that it can stand on the same ground as the other two systems would definitely improve sales, especially if they get some good looking games on it. Not that the Wii needs a sales boost but it would still be pretty cool. The other possibility is that Nintendo is making the motion controlled handheld and if they do it right, I would also be totally okay with them making it. Imagine the DS with Iphone style motion gameplay!

What do you think Nintendo is making? Will they announce it at E3? Or do they have something big for their recently announced Media Summit on Feb 24th in San Francisco?
