Modern Warfare 2 is the Most Pirated Game of 2009

Modern Warfare 2 has gone on to become the biggest entertainment launch in history with it making around half of a billion dollars in it's first week. Millions of people bought copies on all 3 platforms, including the controversial PC version, and with it receiving extremely favourable reviews (T3CH H3LP review), has made the game legendary in it's first few days on the market.

However, according to TorrentFreak, around 4.1 million people downloaded the torrent on the PC alone, almost doubling the amount last year's "winner", Spore, had. Considering Modern Warfare 2 has been out for only 2 months this year, it's pretty surprising that it has had that many torrented copies. This also means that Activision has lost an extremely large amount of profit because of this.

PS3 Review: Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

Definitely one of the most hyped games this year, Uncharted 2 was being marketed as an “amazing graphical experience on the PS3 with intense shooter gameplay and a story with much more varied locations and more memorable characters then the original. It's no secret that it indeed followed through on all its promises and became the one true solid PS3 experience everyone was waiting for - but what exactly was it that made it become this year's potential Game of the Year winner?

Wind Mobile Ready to Launch New Cellphone Company in Canada!

Every time I stop into my local Blockbuster (here in the Toronto area) I always see a small section dedicated to a new phone company called Wind Mobile. However, because of a ruling by the Canadian Government stating that the company "didn't meet Canadian ownership and control requirements" they couldn't start selling their phones to the public ... until now.

After a few months of appealing, the Canadian government finally approved the request and Wind Mobile (owned by Globalive Wireless) is now officially a new competitor in the Canadian market with a new cellphone network that could launch as early as Monday! CEO Ken Campbell stated that "The objective is to have quite a few Wind mobiles under Christmas trees".

It looks like Bell, Rogers and Telus finally have some new competition! Wind Mobile will be offering smartphones from HTC, Samsung and Blackberry. Since they already have national and international roaming agreements, as well as lots of cellphones, It looks like Wind Mobile is all set to enter the market! If you live in Calgary or Toronto, they already have a small list of Blockbusters where you will be able to find a selection of phones.

PC and Xbox 360 Review: Dragon Age: Origins

When I first heard about Bioware making a "mature dark fantasy game" I was intrigued. Could one of my favorite developers make a game like this? While they are known for their excellent storytelling (Mass Effect, Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic) the trailers I saw didn't make me super excited. They seemed to be advertising an extremely bloody game with lots of sex and not much else. And because Bioware kept pushing a ton of ads for this game I just kept losing  my interest in it. The combat looked lackluster and while the story seemed interesting I didn't think it would be on par with Mass Effect or KOTOR's level of detail. But I am very happy to report that after giving it a shot and playing the game extensively I have to admit that I was very, very wrong about many things in the game - and that's a good thing.

Mass Effect 2 will be on two discs, Collector's Edition detailed

Probably my most anticipated game for 2010, Mass Effect 2, is going to have a feature that will read your save file from the previous game, so that your previous choices will affect the entire series. If a character died in the first game, they will stay dead in the second one. With the great graphics and hopefully improved shooter elements, Mass Effect 2 is shaping up to be an excellent experience.

But at what cost? More after the jump.

Ubisoft announces Prince of Persia "The Forgotten Sands"

Earlier today Ubisoft announced a new upcoming title, Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands. We have hardly any info from them but what we do know is that it will be a "return to the storyline in The Sands of Time trilogy" and "will feature many favoured elements from that series as well as new gameplay innovations". We can expect this to be on store shelves in May 2010 to coincide with the Prince of Persia movie. They are developing this game for "consoles and handhelds", so we really have no idea which specific systems it'll be for. They also plan to play a trailer at the Spike TV Video Game Awards on December 12 so tune in for that if your interested.

Considering I loved the earlier versions of Prince of Persia, I'm pretty happy to go back to rewinding time with the prince. How about you?

PS3 Review: Assassin's Creed 2

The first Assassin's Creed was, in my opinion, a very good game with some annoying flaws that kept it from achieving what could have made it an excellent game; frustrating mechanics and ridiculous amounts of repetition. Still, I thought that the story was very interesting and that the game was very immersive -exploring and climbing up a huge tower, or castle, to take a look at the great view can really get you into the experience. And it looked pretty nice at the time too. Those were some of the best parts of the original Assassin's Creed but the question is, did the developers listen to the critics and players and improve it upon the sequel? Or should Assassin's Creed 2 just be assassinated altogether?
