Barnes and Noble Nook Color hacked to run Ubuntu
As if eBook reading wasn’t already nerdy enough, those crafty folks over at XDA-Developers have gone and hacked Ubuntu onto Barnes and Noble’s 2nd gen. eReader, the Nook Colour. Sure, we’ve seen Ubuntu ported to almost everything as of late, so it’s kind of nice to know that the open source Linux based OS has made its rounds to the eReading department. Although we’re not really sure why anyone would want Ubuntu on their eReader. Either way it’s cool nonetheless.
Should you feel up to taking the plunge yourself you can head on over to XDA-Developers; just as warning, Devastatorx — the guy behind the port — has stated that there’s great potential for failure; y’know, the usual bricking and self destruction of another gadget.
