BlueAnt Q2 Bluetooth Headset Review
The world has unanimously decided that bluetooth headsets may be one of the douchiest products to ever be invented for use on mobile phones. However, the market still survives due to business-likes requiring to look important while buying some milk at the super market. Review
The BlueAnt Q2 comes in a stunning clear plastic case mounted atop a cardboard box, much like the Razer Mamba’s packaging. Pulling this piece off reveals a pedestal under which various manuals and accessories are cleverly hidden, including a charger, micro USB cable, extra silicone tips, and a carrying case.
In terms of design, the Q2 headset looks incredibly stylish in a sophisticated way. Lined with a black aluminum mesh, the headset features is constructed matte and glossy parts, giving it a great overall look. Sleek tactile buttons border the headset while a MFB (multifunction button) positions itself atop the mesh area. The power button takes the form of a switch on one side of the headset. Build quality is also very good as the headset has a fair amount of heft to it while still remaining comfortable to wear. We were able to keep the Q2 headset for hours on end without feeling any discomfort and the headset remained perfectly intact in our ears due to a tweakable ear hook.
Connecting to our devices via Bluetooth was as simple as it gets. Pairing to our first iPhone was effortless while the second simply required a push of the MFB. Up to two devices can be paired at once and no matter which one rings you’ll be able to pick up the call. In order to pair a third device (or rather first device in this case), you’ll have to completely reset the headset. One of our favorite features of the Q2 is voice commands. After spending a solid amount of time studying the manual, we got down a couple of commands that were quite useful. Contacts syncing was among the other touted features, managing to store an amount of 2000 phonebook entries.
Audio quality also sounded quite good although don’t expect to use this headset for any music listening. During calls, we were complemented on how clear we sounded, so there’s no question to the sound quality on this headset. Ambient noise cancellation worked just as expected and we were able to block out music we played in the background. Unfortunately, we were not able to experiment with the 22 mph wind resistance claim BlueAnt puts out, but we don’t really have any reason to doubt it.
Overall
In a world of geeky oversized Bluetooth headsets and gaudy Jawbone’s, the BlueAnt Q2 finds a place suitable for just about anyone in the market. The price point may seem a bit high for some but the features, comfort, and design make the Q2 a winner in our book.
