Brainwavz M2 in-ear headphones review

Haven’t heard of the brand Brainwavz? Don’t worry, we’ve never heard of them before this review either. In fact. we came into this review not expecting much but actually did enjoy several aspects of the headphones during testing. How are the headphones exactly?

Features

  • Punchy, accurate bass
  • Warm, fun and exciting sound signature
  • Great build quality

Our Impressions

The Brainwavz M2 comes in a square blue box, containing the headphones, a woven hard case, shirt clip, extra silicone tips, and Comply Foam Tips. (NOTE - see that long black thing in the plastic bag? those are ear gliders. they do NOT come with the M2)

The Brainwavz M2 are encapsulated in durable metal shells connected to a durable cable. A band of black plastic wraps around both metal chunks; left and right indicators are engraved on the tiny cylinders on each earbud. The overall design is relatively modern althought the headphones didn’t instantly stike us as all that attractive. The piece of plastic connecting each earbud and the cable is unnecessarily long but it wasn’t too distracting during actual usage. The lengthy twisted cable feels nice and durable; it’s also pretty tangle free. The chunky L shaped 3.5mm jack is pretty rugged but it fitted well in our ports. In conclusion, build quality is pretty solid on the Brainwavz M2. The only mishap occured when one of our earbuds started to come apart. Although a quick twist secured it back on, it was a little unnerving.

Comfort is pretty mediocre with both the foam and silicone tips. The included Comply tips don’t feel anything like any other Comply tips we’ve used. They’re quite rough and porous rather than smooth and densely packed like the ones included with Ultimate Ears headphones. Nevertheless, we still prefer them over the silicone tips. Noise isolation with the included foam tips is very good, blocking out a fair amount of ambient noise. Sound quality is pretty enjoyable. Our beats sounded warm and lows resonated nicely. Trebles are not as pronounced as we’d have liked but overall the sound was very balanced. Vocals were delivered quite clearly. If you listen to music with a lot of bass, you’ll find the Brainwavz M2 to be a real pleasure.

Overall

We were pleasantly surprised by the Brainwavz M2. The second we took the headphones out of the box and put them on, we were amazed at how good they sounded. The warm output and great noise cancellation sum up to a very enjoyable experience. Add exceptional build quality to the list of pro’s and you’ve got a recommended set of in-ear headphones!

Pro’s

  • great bass
  • noise cancellation
  • durable materials

Con’s

  • not very comfortable

Where to buy

MP4 Nation / Amazon — MSRP: $49.50
