Cave Story 3D gets delayed until November 8th
While, yes, the 3DS is a technically monsterous device, it continues to be plagued by a lackluster library that refuses to give up any quality release dates to upcoming games. This time another game has been lost to the waves of time; Cave Story 3D has been knocked back from its initial August 9th launch to a November 8th release. All while Star Fox, Kid Icarus, Super Mario, and Mario Kart all remain in limbo.
In this particular case, Cave Story was going to be redone with brand spanking new visuals and released in 2 months on the 3DS, but after this disheartening press release we’re sad to hear it won’t be in our hands until almost another half a year:
“NIS America announces today that its first Nintendo 3DS™ title Cave Story 3D will be released on Nov 8, 2011 due to additional game improvements.
“We are currently undergoing improvements to enhance gameplay. Changes are in the small details, but in order to satisfy both the fans and the new players we need to make sure the game is done right. Please look forward to it this holiday season. Cave Story 3D will be a blast,” says Jack Niida, producer at NIS America, Inc.”
Cave Story, a freeware title on PC — which can be downloaded here (along with its English patch), and also available on WiiWare — was developed originally in Japanese by Daisuke Amaya solely in his free time. Since its release in 2004 it has become one of the top 50 freeware games of all time and been ported numerous times to a variety of platforms.
