Nintendo launching Wii U in late 2012, might get a name change

Nintendo’s 2011 E3 reveal of the Wii U was anything but impressive. Aside from the “real-time” gameplay of Zelda Wii U (read as: PR talk), there seriously was nothing to get excited about the Big N’s next console. It was definitely a huge contrast to the type of reaction the Wii first originally got, with wait times to try out the thing no where near the 6 hours people sacrificed to first demo the Wii. Well, Nintendo is hoping to shed off some of those bad memories and it’s optimisitic about its future, despite a continuous plunge in overall sales. Satoru Iwata, the company’s CEO and President, announced earlier yesterday that the Wii U is set to hit retailers sometimes in late 2012. Oh, and there’s talk of it getting a new name. — More after the break!

Rumor - Nintendo eyeing app store for Wii U, their OWN app store

Right when we thought we had Nintendo figured out something like this comes along and throws a wrench into the gears of the machine. Apparently, the big N isn’t just thinking about it, but they’re steathly creating a repository of apps for an upcoming app store to go along with the Wii U’s tablet like design. Well, this changes things up a bit. — More after the break!

Nintendo releases official Legend of Zelda timeline, actually makes sense

The Zelda timeline has been something that Nintendo nerds and Zelda fanboys alike have argued over for years upon years. And to add fuel to the flames Zelda producer and director Eiji Aonuma came out and claimed that the franchise did in fact follow a heavily guarded timeline, though it was a secret that only Nintendo knew. Well, it’s been a few years since that quote was first spoken, and here we are at the end of the 25th anniversary of the series now bestowed upon with the official timeline, brought to you by Nintendo’s official Zelda artbook. — More after the break!

Fire Emblem 3DS will be first Nintendo title to get paid DLC

There have been software updates to fix games, and even firmware downloads to patch security issues but there’s yet to be found any paid DLC (downloadable content, for all you non-gamers) on a Nintendo system to date. Well, that’s all about to change, now that a new Fire Emblem game is heading onto the 3DS, and will be bringing with it additional content for you to throw your hard earned pennies at Nintendo, cause y’know… they don’t already have enough of it. Reports are also saying that the Wii U will also take advantage of paid DLC. — More after the break!

Nintendo issues fix for Zelda Skyward Sword game breaking glitch

So last night I personally just finished the Song of Hero quest, which roughly is at the very last leg of your journey to complete the main adventure, and I came out of it unscathed. Unfortunately, that hasn’t been the case for what could be hundreds of fellow Skywardians (?) who’ve been plagued by a stupid game-breaking glitch. Well, unlike the olden days in which you would have to start all over again, Nintendo will be releasing a specific channel on the Wii to help restore game saves. — More after the break!

Free GBA games for 3DS Ambassadors now available for download

You’d think that as part of their loyal fanbase who went out and dished out over $200 to buy the hulking 3DS machine, Nintendo would at least be kind enough to tell us when their GBA line-up was ready for download, right? Well, the games are available now and NOA is still mum through both press release and 3DS notification. Weird, I would say but at least  the games and release dates formally announced through Nintendo of Europe remain unchanged for those of us in the states. Download them now! — More after the break!

Titles for free GBA games for 3DS Ambassadors announced, releasing Dec. 16th

Remember back in summer when Nintendo admitted they sorta boned all those people who paid full price for the 3DS, since they went ahead with an $80 price cut less than 4 months after its release? Yeah, well if you do then you might recall the “3DS Ambassador program” they came up with to show their loyalty to those Nintendrones, I mean customers — what am I saying, I waited in line to pick mine up at midnight — by offering 10 free NES and 10 free GBA games exclusively to them. That being said, the NES games came out in September, and now finally the GBA games are only days away from being downloadable. — More after the break!
