Customize your Google Homepage with new Wallpaper Feature
“Make it your own” - We’ve had customization tools like this before with iGoogle, but that only made the experience much more cluttered, and felt reminiscent of the way old sites back in the early 2000’s used to set up their homepages - with as much information mushed within a single page as possible; think Yahoo! and AOL. Now it appears that Google has gone into a whole new direction and is now ripping out a page from the book of Bing. For those unfamiliar with the Bing search engine why not hop over there for a second just to see how aesthetically pleasing it all appears compared to the boring and plain Google logo.
Now, however, when you go to Google’s homepage you’ll be given a new option underneath the search bar to A.) choose a wallpaper from their gallery or B.) upload your own wally to accompany that lonely text field. I’ve actually toyed with the different styles for the past few days and I gotta say that I really dig the new look. Now I don’t feel I’m missing anything from the Bing experience.
